Tapestry as a form of textile art is a rich and powerful artistic medium. It is woven by hand on a weaving-loom. In general, weaving involves the interlacing of two sets of threads at right angles to each other and turning them into cloth. Weaving was an art practised in very early times. It is described sometimes as having a pliable plane, with a forgiving surface which ages slowly and gracefully. It has far broader ranges of material, scale, pattern and expresion than any other medium.
